YAY it's Friday the 13th - the luckiest day of the year! :) I'll be at the Motor City Comic Con in Artist's Alley, table H4. Swing by today and join me in celebrating my birthday :) www.motorcitycomiccon.com for more info.
Motor City Comic Con This Weekend!
I'm excited to announce that I'll be exhibiting in Motor City Comic Con this weekend, back in my home state of Michigan! Coincidentally, the convention starts on my birthday, which is also the only Friday the 13th of this year - very lucky! MCCC is Friday May 13th from 12:30P - 7P, Saturday May 14th from 10:30A - 7P, and Sunday May 15 from 10:30A - 5P. At the Suburban Collection Showplace, 46100 Grand River Ave, Novi, MI 48374. Daily passes range from $25 to $35, check their website https://motorcitycomiccon.com for more info.
There are some cool panel discussions going on too. It's so great to see how much this convention has grown over the years - they didn't even have this stuff when I was a teen! Panels of note are the "Who’s Panel with Billie Piper" and a handful of creator-themed panels like WRITE BETTER COMICS and The Art of Inking. But most exciting of all is the Holy Golden Anniversary Batman! panel on Sunday: "Marking it’s 50th anniversary, the dynamic duo and stars of Batman, Adam West and Burt Ward have dropped by The Motor City Comic Con to take your questions and discuss their infamous TV show. With the inside scoop and behind the scene stories in their utility belts, this event will leave you saying, “Holy Panel Batman!” Note: You won’t want to miss this since it’s their last year of Con appearances before hanging up their capes."
See you there!
Since entering the working world, I've always taken a day off for my birthday, and my college semesters ended in April, so I haven't had to "work" on my birthday since high school! But hey at least I'm doing what I'm great at and what I love. But if you're thinking of going to MCCC, stop by my booth in artist's alley on Friday the 13th because I'll be taking it easy!
Happy Friday the 13th! Taking Holiday Orders
Now's the time to start thinking about giving people awesome holiday gifts - like cool fun art! Choose from pencil ($15), ink ($25), or color ($35) styles (additional figures in sketch are charged accordingly). All sketches are 5"x7", but you can request a larger size and I'll price accordingly.
If you order before December 1st, I'll give you FREE SHIPPING! That'll save you about $3 to $6, depending on where you live. It's good to order early so I have enough time to complete everyone's sketches, and I can mail them in time for you to receive the package before the holidays. Also I'm going to Michigan mid-December and am not taking all my art supplies :P
Friday the 13th always makes me happy :) Maybe someday the pizza rats will fight the ninja turtles... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPXUG8q4jKU
Happy Friday the 13th AGAIN!
Two months in a row, how lucky can we get for Friday the 13th?? Also, yes even though the sun is out, YOU STILL NEED A COAT.
Maybe it's time for a little spring cleaning, hm? My freezer challenge has remained unchallenged - if anyone cleans out their freezer and can find something that's older than October 2008, send me a picture and I'll mail you one of my mini comics of your choice for free! Either that or you can write your own Daily Misfortune and I'll feature it with your credits! Send pictures to mindy@mindyindy.com by April 1st 2015.
Happy Friday the 13th!
Last night I was happy to realize that today is another Friday the 13th! Perfect day for The Daily Misfortune! I've always loved the number 13 because I was born on the 13th. I'm not into scary movies or stuff like that, but I just think it's a special day :) Take your umbrellas just in case!
HAPPY NATIONAL FORTUNE COOKIE DAY / FRIDAY THE 13TH!
'Tis a joyous day! According to HolidayInsights.com, "it's pretty clear that the Fortune Cookie did not originate in China. Rather, it was invented in California. There appears to be some uncertainty over who invented it. Some historical references suggest it was Makoto Hagiwara who invented the fortune cookie at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco in 1914. Others believe that David Jung, founder of the Hong Kong Noodle Company, was the first to make fortune cookies in Los Angeles in the 1920s." Fun facts!
Plus, here's a sneak peek at the coolest page I drew for "The Lucky Penny:"
What's gonna happen when he picks up that penny? You won't be able to sleep at night until you find out. So stop by Carmine Street Comics tonight from 7-9pm and you can get your own copy of "The Lucky Penny" PLUS your very own lucky penny to save you from the horrors of Friday the 13th! It's gonna be a fun time! :D
The Lucky Penny is Coming!
Here's the cover for "The Lucky Penny," my newest mini comic! I spent a stupid amount of time searching for the right fonts they use on the penny, because the date font is different than the font at the top.
You can buy "The Lucky Penny" tomorrow for $1.99 and get your own special lucky penny to protect you from the evils of Friday the 13th! Go to Carmine Street Comics from 7pm-9pm and I'll hand out FREE FORTUNE and MISFORTUNE COOKIES for National Fortune Cookie Day. Get a special Misfortune Cookie Card for a friend, and/or a misfortune cookie drawing. You can pick up a copy of "The Misfortune Cookie" and "Mindy Indy's Daily Misfortune and Flipbook" if you haven't already. The perfect way to scare the sh!t out of your superstitious friends this Friday the 13th :D
When I had longer hair, this was much more of a threat. But I still think about it. Had some pretty close calls....
